Psychedelic heat

Hong Kong is really bloody hot. It's so hot that I've started using British words.

To combat the heat, I want a small tie-dye dress that I can sweat in and not care. Why tie-dye?

Maybe because tie dye makes me think of hippies, and hippies didn't really care if they were sweaty, because being stinky is natural. Foolproof logic, I know.

Also - why not?

Here are some of my faves:

1. Denim jacket, $62 at oh leoluca
2. Pastel tie-dye tote, $27 at The Style Rules (also known as our bud Fabi!)

3. Psychedelic scarf, $25 at Sweetfern Studio
4. C&C spiral dress, $225

Like any of these? Know of any good dresses I could lounge in?

P.S. I need to update my blogroll. I know I have a ton of awesome new readers but I'm awful at keeping track of stuff. So - if you'd like to be added, drop me an email! houstonienne (at) gmail (dot) com. Only criteria are that you're a regular reader/commenter, update your blog often (at least 1x a week), have been around for a few months (the quit rate of new bloggers is tragic! but just creates extra work when I have to delete defunct links - hence the time criteria), and it'd be great if you add me back! I read every blog on my list at least once a week, hence the need for a little management.

I love tie-dye! I'm sorry it is so "bloody" hot there! That can be a bit miserable.

Thanks for your comment, I would have been hot, but it's the first week of winter here in Australia! & winter in Canberra, is VERY cold :)

Now I know it should be summer but aarrgghhhh it's been raining real hard here and so cold! I can only wish of wearing the halter dress :-) Ok maybe I'll just settle with the bag then.

This post reminds me of highschool and the tie & dye craft project. It was fun. :-)

Love that dress! I always used to attempt to tie dye at camp and mine would come out horrible...but my brother is a pretty good tie-dyer...he might be part hippie. Maybe he could tie dye me a dress haha.

Love them all - but that scarf is my favorite! I'd say sorry for the heat... but it's been averaging in the 90's here in Dallas too, so I'm in it with you!

My sympathies. I absolutely hate the humidity. Hopefully that scarf and some cute sandals will help cool you down!

Tie-dye is perfect for funky weather! You can sweat in it but still look wonderfully feminine.

I love tie dye too! :) Must be the little hippie part of me coming out. I saw the cutest tie dye dress the other day too but I'm racking my brain and can't figure out where I saw it!!! If I think of it I'll be sure to let you know.

Oh, the dress! And I love the really soft tie-dye in the bag. I only think of really bright, 60s/70s tie-dye usually, so that's refreshing!

in high school I had this navy blue tie dye halter top that I just loved and so whenever I see tie dye now I think of it and wish I had it again! come to think of it, it's probably at my parent's house... too bad I've probably outgrown it. otherwise, I would be right on trend!

I love your reason for getting a tie-dye dress. I've never been to Hong Kong, but I have been to Taiwan once or twice. I'm positive that the weather in Hong Kong and Taiwan are relatively close, since they are also close in proximity.

It gets hella hot there. (A more teen-American way of describing heat.) When I was in Taiwan, I felt like I was melting. LOL

I really like the maxi-dress. I still have a t-shirt I tie-dyed myself way back when I went to summer camp. I always knew this look would come back. And I can only imagine the heat over there (my parents who still live there complain about it all the time). I still can't believe I used to play tennis outside during the summer months there.

I love tie die. I suggest finding a pretty white cotton or cotten jersey dress and tie dying your own. It's fun and you'll get just the colors you want. I have some slightly stained white napkins that I'm going to tie dye this summer.
